Remember: When you leave the salon …the responsibility to maintain the hair is now yours. Care for your hair as if it were your own... after all, it is!

    Note:
  • Never go to bed with wet hair. Your hair will mat and tangle.

  • Make sure you make your maintenance appointments.

  • Brushing - (use vent brush)
  • Begin at the ends of the hair, working your way to the top, brush out tangles.

  • Support your attachment when brushing or combing your hair, by holding your hair at the base/root to avoid unnecessary pulling on your hair.

  • If you have fusion or strand by strand, when you get to the root, finger separate the strands from each other and brush over the strands from the scalp right over the connection point.

  • Doing this twice a day is suggested with a boar bristle not a pick type brush.

  • Washing
  • Use a shampoo no higher than pH 7 and good for dry hair.

  • If not shampooed by a professional, hair extensions are most easily shampooed in the shower where you can keep the hair flowing in it its natural direction, which decreases the chance of getting tangled.

  • Wet hair thoroughly with lukewarm water, place shampoo in the palm of the hands and stroke the entire strand from beginning to ends. Never use circular motions as this will cause the hair to tangle.

  • Always wash with head tilted slightly back and not forward. If you have wefts- use your fingers in a horizontal motion in between wefts to clean your scalp.

  • Use hands to squeeze excess water from the hair.

  • Place conditioner in palm of the hand and stroke downward, taking care not to put conditioner on the attachments to avoid build up.

  • Comb through hair with fingers or a very wide tooth comb to get rid of tangles.

  • Rinse thoroughly with cool water. Pat your hair dry with a towel and squeeze. Do not rub, as this can cause tangles.

  • You may add leave in conditioner.

  • Use styling aids such as mouse, gel, serums, hairspray in moderation (preferably alcohol free products).

  • Too much product can weigh the hair down and/or cause tangles and stiffness.

  • At the most, it is suggested that you wash your hair no more than twice a week and no less than once every 10 days. Use a deep cleansing shampoo at least once a month.

  • Note:
  • Frequent shampooing demands extreme care.

  • When your natural hairs density is very thick and you are wearing a full head extension/weave, do not risk hair mildew by allowing your hair to dry naturally, instead secure hair with sheer scarf and sit under a hood dryer or hood dryer that attaches to blow dryer.

  • Before Bed or Exercise
  • Put your hair in a loose braid or a few scrunchies so the extensions do not tangle before you begin these activities. Sleep on a satin/silk pillowcase, it helps to avoid tangles as well as keeps the luster.

  • Note: A must have is a bonnet for drying full head weaves. This bonnet attaches to any blow dryer and thoroughly dries hair so the hair will not mildew.

    Specific Conditions
    Swimming:

  • Before swimming, comb out tangles.

  • Braid hair into one braid at back of neck.

  • Immediately after showering undo braid, and wash and condition hair, do not let chemicals (chlorine) stay in hair. Comb hair and let air-dry.

  • Sauna:
  • Braid hair into one braid at back of neck.

  • The water of the sauna will penetrate the hair and wet it.

  • Do not wrap hair in towel, which will compress it.

  • Immediately after showering undo braid, comb hair and let air-dry.

  • Follow with appropriate shampooing and conditioning as needed.

  • Sunbathing:
  • Braid hair into one braid at back of neck.

  • After sunbathing, do not unbraid until hair has cooled down.

  • After hair cools, undo braid, comb hair.

  • Follow with appropriate shampooing and conditioning as needed.

  • Note: Although the extension hair is real, it is not receiving nutrients from the scalp like your own hair.
Heat is your hair extensions biggest enemy. The more heat you use on the hair, the shorter the life span will be. The hair may not remain silky if you use the blow dryer, flat iron, or curling iron. For curling the hair, it is best to use steamrollers such as Caruso's or Vidal Sassoon's molecular steamrollers.
